Well written!!! AAAAhhhhhh Addictions! What a lovely word. Even has the word DICK in it!!! I guess, we do become "Dicks" (in the negative) when we are engaging in our addiction (sorry to the men, just a play on the word). I am forever working on my food addiction, which waxes and wanes with the tides and the lunar cycle, I think. I just know that as I keep working on my emotional crap, family of origin woundedness, my handle on eating becomes easier and not as overwhelming. I do know there is a direct correlation with my emotions and physical well-being and my need to soothe myself with chocolate, salty foods, you name it. If I am happy, I eat healthy. If I am tired and feeling a little blue, well its, CHOCOLATE time. Even though, I am pretty good about my bingeing, I will eat only 3 or 4 little pieces of chocolate, as opposed to 10 or 15 pieces that I used to eat before I did my healing work. All I can say is that I am not alone, and the secret for me has really been to share my shame around my eating and get support from my family and friends. I do see there is hope.
